How to install Kyrandia on a Windows 95 system (floppy version)


  1. Click START/RUN. Type A:\INSTALL.EXE. Type ENTER.

  2. The install and setup will run automatically; you will need to close the DOS box when finished

  3. You must make an Icon to run Kyrandia. To do this:
    1. Start Explorer.
    2. Go to where you installed Kyrandia.
    3. Right click on the KYRANDIA.BAT icon, select CREATE SHORTCUT.
    4. You will see a SHORTCUT TO KYRANDIA icon appear. Drag it to the desktop.
    5. Right click the new icon, select properties.
    6. Click the SCREEN tab.
    7. Select the FULL SCREEN button.
    8. Click OK

  4. You may wish to change the icon for Kyrandia to the provided picture. To do this:
    1. Right click the icon, and chose PROPERTIES.
    2. Select the PROGRAM tab, click the CHANGE ICON button.
    3. Click the browse button, go to the directory where Kyrandia is located
    4. Double click the icon file (KYRANDIA.ICO).
    5. Double click the icon again.
    6. Click the OK button.

  5. Double click the icon to run Kyrandia.

How to install Kyrandia on a Windows 95 system (CD version)



  1. Click START/RUN. Type D:\INSTALL.EXE (Where D is your CD-ROM drive). Type ENTER.

  2. Enter the information for your soundcard.

  3. You must mak an Icon to run Kyrandia. To do this:
    1. Start Explorer.
    2. Go to where you installed Kyrandia.
    3. Right click on the KYRACD.BAT icon, select CREATE SHORTCUT.
    4. You will see a SHORTCUT TO KYRACD icon appear. Drag it to the desktop.
    5. Right click the new icon, select properties.
    6. Click the SCREEN tab.
    7. Select the FULL SCREEN button.
    8. Click OK.

  4. Double click the icon to run Kyrandia.


I keep having a memory error or other lockup when playing Kyrandia.


Kyrandia Book 1: The Legend of Kyrandia has been tested to run with all standard DOS and Windows drivers, including Sound cards and CD-ROM and mouse drivers from other manufacturers. If you're having trouble with Kyandia, it's probably a result of one of the following.
  • You have the older floppy version of the game. The 1.13 patch for the floppy version can be downloaded here.

  • You have a memory manager other than EMM386 running. Switch to EMM386 and try again. Kyrandia 1 was tested only with EMM386.

  • You have some other driver running, which conflicts with Kyrandia 1 and is not necessary for game play. These include screen savers, memory doublers, power management anyalyzers, disk caching software, etc.. disable these programs, or create a boot disk and try again.
